ROLLING THE DICE
Ray Cabarga, bored to disruption of
the public school system, spent much of his
childhood staring at the sprayed foam
insulation on the classroom ceiling. finding a
vehicle for his imagination in the chaos and
thus beginning his lifelong passion for the
aleatoric. As an adult he uses traditional
mediums in unconventional ways to create
chaotic underpaintings called oozings to
which he adds ink to accentuate the endless
forms and figures his paint creates all by
itself. His latest body of work called "inked
oozings" is a realization of his childhood
dreams. Dreams he would not have had if
not for his many boring teachers..

BOY WITH NEW BALLOON by Stoffel De Roover
Take a deep breath of pure creativity as you venture into the smoky corners of
the uniquely creative mind of
Stoffel De Roover
Do not pass up this great opportunity to see one of the most basic elements
of natural aleatoric composition rendered like you have never seen before.
This artist proves that nobody does fractals like mother nature! There are a lot
of artists blowing smoke out there, but De Roover's level of abstraction, using
little manipulation and employing creative use of titles, elevates his work to
the realm of fine art. Go directly to the

quite wrong, and found

Through the influence of both eastern and western
cultures, philosophies, and practices,
Ted Lincoln creates paintings that explore the
transitory nature of landscape. Drawing from his
background and experience in eastern culture he uses
industrial materials such as steel, aluminum, acids, and
automotive enamel to create landscapes that
simultaneously feel strong and illusive. The austere
nature of his materials are softened and rendered into
contemplative spaces. Click the image at left for his

Bond- James Bond. Really, that's his name. But he is no secret
agent- JB is a fine art blacksmith, and the first one we have seen who
throws white hot metal into freezing water just to find out what happens.
His Arp-like collage assemblies, made of a variety of discarded metals, are
beautiful inventions of controlled chaos that seem to float on the wall in
spite of their weight.

Hand forging and power hammer techniques are utilized to achieve the
various shape and textural qualities within the work, and the gorgeous
finishes are attained through the traditional forging process and various
oxidizing heat treatments he uses in his Wyoming studio. Look for this
artist to gain recognition on the international art scene, and see new
works at his
website.

Inked Oozing by Ray Cabarga
Fung Kwok Pan is a rare combination inventor, scientist, and artist who
uses the algorithms of accidents, the nuances of nature, and the formulas of flukes
the way a mason uses mortar to create interfaces for intimate interaction with the
laws of physics. By demystifying processes such as phyllotaxis (plant structures)
and triangulation (golden rectangles) he opens new doors for the creation of
aleatoric art, and his concepts span an even broader scope of applications. Finding
the intrinsic beauty in failure, Fung Kwok Pan epitomizes the Eastern philosophy
which equates disaster with opportunity. But his work is unique in that his
inventions make the creative process available to all by way of the worlds first
interactive aleatoric art generators.

Dye Migration 229 by Qubais Reed Ghazala
Among the basic processes for inventing chaos is, of course, destruction. Nothing
does it better than fire, and at the hands of
Jeff Derose, the devastation is
beautiful to watch. Wildly creative sculptures, photography, installations and video
art created with plenty left to chance will take you on a journey from birth to the
absolute end of being- a voyage captured by Deroses intuitive eye, a passion for
what comes next and a strong will to be in control of it all.

Allan Rodewald's experimentation and versatility with a wide
variety of traditional and cutting-edge artistic techniques, styles and
mediums coalesce to sire yet a new take on aleatoric art. A kind of
choreographed chaos or directed entropy make his brand of aleatoric
abstraction both accessible to the uninitiated while permitting him to
stretch further than pure aleatory alone. By slightly narrowing the
gamut of possibility, Rodewald reveals a delicate serendipity that
unbridled pandemonium would obliterate, once again illustrating that
freedom is appreciated only relative to that from which it is free.

Perpetuating  the legacy of chance...

AleatoricArt.com
is an online magazine and gallery of artists who allow
the laws of physics to guide their creative vision, seeking out art born of
natural causes and daring to leave some things purely to chance. By
developing a deeper understanding of the forces that govern our universe,
these courageous innovators have discovered unique ways of collaborating
with nature to produce some of the most beautiful and compelling images
in the world of contemporary art.

Thirty one talented individuals representing a variety of genre have
gathered to form a collective known as MAMA, the Movement of Aleatoric
Modern Artists, a nod to the Dadaists of the early twentieth century who
made liberal use of accidental methods when composing great works of
art. The AleatoricArt gallery was created in 2009 to entertain and educate
art lovers about the element of chance in fine art history, and to inspire
students and emerging artists to discover and enjoy the same freedom
from the confines of accepted artistic methods that the use of chance
represents. The group is working together on ways to promote their new
ideas and processes, which utilize today's techniques, materials and
technology combined with ancient aleatoric means and controlled chaos.

We hope that you will enjoy exploring our tremendous catalog of art by
selecting the links below. Thousands of works by our masters of chance
can be purchased directly through their websites. Much of the art you will
see in these pages is also available through the
Corporate Arts Program.

"... First I need to find the piece of rusty iron, and from there
establish a conceptual and formal dialogue with the found
object . I try to capture the energy of the single piece (which is
unique, because no iron is oxidized in the same way) and send
it to the universe of my cultural references. Then there is a
kind of symbiosis- I do the work but the work itself inspires
me. It's like a covenant between the person and matter, a
covenant that respects my humility being that perhaps the
only talent that the artist has is the ability to recognize all that
is beautiful and expressive, and how time relates to the
mysterious forces and beauty of Nature, the best artist I
know...
