PENTHOUSE VIEW, SAN DIEGO 2007
The tour kicked off on July 11, when we landed in always-sunny San Diego for the first exhibition reception in LA at Infusion Gallery in the Gallery Row district.
Thanks to all of my best friends for making a wonderful show put on by Jill and Dover even better. We dined later that night at Angelini's Resturant in Hollywood, and
the food was spectacular! Before the show, we trolled the Art Walk for some truly different art, and boy, did we find it!.
We stayed at the Beverly Hilton on Reception night and then spent the rest of the 5 day trip at cousin Phil's house in Carlsbad, and for the topper of all the toppers, he
let us drive his Lotus Elise along the Pacific Coast on a picture perfect day. We also got to see some fantastic art in San Diego, and visited Phil's penthouse by the
harbor.
The day after the show, I was contacted by museum curator Paola Trevisan, and was told I would be showing at the Estense Castle in Ferrarra in November at the
Arte ex Arte Collective. That was a great feeling to have the morning after the show! Read the critique on the PRESS page.
I am now represented by Agora Gallery in NYC, and will participate in their "Pixel Perfect" exhibition in Spring of 2008. Look for more gallery showings soon!

Pieces of J. Coleman Miller's Blu Lagoon
Collection are on commission at South Beach
Studios in Miami Beach, Florida, the home of
the Famous Neptunes.
"These prints have given the studio a whole
new vibe... Thank you so very much for the art
work which is now on display for all to
appreciate and enjoy."

South Beach Studios 2007

Every year for 50 years the L.A. Municipal Gallery has held its "Open Call" exhibit where any artist can show up with their
art and an entry fee (to benefit gallery programs) and the piece is shown. The Los Angeles Center For Digital Art decided to
launch an international experiment of the same nature where the artists upload images that are printed and hung by the
gallery. The hundreds of works are displayed in a grid like installation (reminiscent of postcard art shows of the 1980's)
where every work submitted is exhibited. The usual (less than democratic) selection process where only the precious few
are chosen is turned on its head in a curatorial anarchy where everyone gets to participate and the viewer is literally left to
be the judge.
The exhibit represents a snapshot of a current moment in art history when digital imaging has reached the hands of the
many, an age where culture belongs to photo-artists and image makers around the globe. From Thailand to Texas, amateur to
academic, beautiful to banal and beyond the monumental quantity and variety of "Snap to Grid" becomes an aesthetic
experience where each individual piece adds to an agglomerative effect that has a life of its own.
The show is beautifully mounted in our 1,200 foot gallery in the burgeoning downtown arts district in the revitalized historic
core of Los Angeles. It is an area constantly building and creating itself, filled with art, hipsters, restraints, clubs, music,
shopping and urban loft living. The opening reception is on the night of the exciting Downtown Art Walk which has drawn
over 1,400 people (and also provides a new shuttle service inaugurated last July between each cluster of the over 30
galleries in the immediate area).

The exhibition opened and opened well, the quality of the artwork is very
high... I received good critics from artists and visitors! Sunday was a very
good day for affluence and visitors inquired often about prices and
information about artists. The first days of the week are a bit quieter but I'm
expecting great affluence during the week end. Your works are beautiful! I
gave you extra spaces as they deserved it!

...submerged figurative imagery lurks within the
ostensibly abstract giclee prints of J. Coleman
Miller, providing a surprise bonus for those who
scrutinize them carefully. In Miller's "The Fury",
for example, one who is initially entranced solely
by the liquiscent fluidity of the forms may suddenly
discover stylized heads of racing horses amid
fiery golden hues."

Pixel Perfect at Agora NYC

The Agora Gallery Pixel Perfect Show in the Chelsea area of NYC was a blast! I went with my three
sisters to the city and had such a great time. This gentleman with me is S. David, a popular NYC
poet who was so moved by a couple of my prints that he wrote a piece about them. The poem
about "The Fury" is at left. This was by far the most off the hook party I have attended, and was
made even better by the company of the "Three Graces", a handle put on my sisters by the
illustrious Ruthie Tucker from Amsterdam Whitney Gallery. I had the pleasure of being summoned
by her after she checked out my art, and had an informative talk about the booming art market,
and discussed showing my work at her Chelsea gallery. My first year has been much fun!

The Fury
The angry neigh
Rises into a scream
A scream of
Defiance
A scream of
Fury
Who comes
Who dares
The mares run
The sound
A pounding
Through the ground
Hooves striking
Earth
Behind
The Stallion
Still screams defiance
Defending
His herd
His Harem
